We had such a blast and found some beautiful places that we didn't even know were so nearby. So of course I had to take tons of pictures. Here are a few favorites.
An old house near one of the caches we found. This apparently is the first place to have dry farmed in this area according to other geocachers who have been here.
Inside the house. It was part of an old town called Herbert. We saw other remains of the town as we drove around the area. Mostly farm houses similar to this.
Some old machinery outside the house.
Farther down the road we found a treasure trove of huckleberry bushes. The bushes themselves were not that attractive at this point in the season, however. So I took a picture of an unopened thistle. It was prettier.
We stopped on our way to another cache next to an aspen grove for lunch. These are some of the biggest aspens I personally have seen. They were gorgeous.
The aspens weren't the only things that were huge. Sorry this picture is a little blurred, but check out the size of that brown cow. The black one next to it is about normal size.
One of the other caches we stopped at had this fantastic view of the snake river. Lovely spot for a cache. Actually, someone had buried their pet up there too with windchimes to mark the grave. It was funny, we didn't notice how odd the sound of the chimes was in that setting until we saw them.
We actually got snowed on while we were driving. It was kind of wet though so it didn't stick much. Except at this golf corse on the cropped grass of the green. There were little circles of snow all over the course.

I want to try it someday......
That is an expecially beautiful aspen. It hasn't been attacked by anything. amazing.
We went to see some pictographs on the Columbia gorge that are listed on a geocaching site. We didn't use coordinates to get there though.
Dad and I are thinking about it - but we got lost coming home this weekend in Auburn - maybe we'll get that city map gps afterall.
Sounds like you are making good use of the GPS. Those are great pictures, Katie! Good job!
