Spring? Is it you?

I heard birds today! Real live birds outside our backdoor! AND it was raining, not snowing when I left for work early this morning. Could it be spring? Or is it a dirty rotten Idaho weather trick? I dunno, but I was certainly glad for the break from winter even if it is a mean trick.

huzzah for spring! even if it does snow again, I am always glad for the birds and the non-frozen water. I got a little impatient a few months ago and now I have about 13 tomato plants sitting on my window seal, anyone want a free tomato plant to love for your very own?

Molly, I am impressed! I have been trying to hold off on planting things because I know it's just gonna go and freeze again in June. (although I do intend to plant before then). Kudos to you!

The birds usually know what is up, however, they are much heartier in Idaho and can stand the cold a bit better.

Coincidentally, this week as I was walking to my vanpool meeting site at KMart, through Sunset Meadows, I also noticed more birdsong than usual. I heard flickers doing their insistent, repetitive courting song, robins and finches, and the chickadee's three note "deee de de", as well as other twitters I had not heard for awhile. This and the fragrance of the fully-blooming flowering plums (which you or one of your brothers has identified as a sweet corn tortilla smell) made the morning definitely spring-like. I love this time of year.
